Hello, I’m Paul
I’m Paul Stephen, a wedding photographer based in Cheshire & Manchester, working across the UK and Europe.
I photograph weddings as they unfold — calmly, instinctively, and with a strong sense of light, timing, and story. My work is rooted in documentary photography, shaped by years of experience and an editorial eye.
What matters most to me is that couples feel comfortable and present — able to enjoy their day without feeling managed, posed, or under pressure.
How I work
Every wedding has its own pace and personality. I don’t arrive with a fixed formula or a checklist of shots to force.
Most of the day, I’m observing — close enough to catch what matters, but far enough away for things to unfold naturally. When guidance is needed, it’s gentle and uncomplicated. When moments happen, I’m ready.
I’m always focused on the full story — the big moments, the in-between ones, and the details you didn’t realise were happening at the time.
Experience
I’ve been photographing weddings and events professionally for over 15 years.
That experience shows itself quietly — in how I move through a room, how I adapt when plans change, how I work in difficult light, and how I stay calm when things don’t run to schedule.
Couples don’t need to worry about being photographed. They get to focus on their wedding — I’ll take care of the rest.
Style
My work sits between documentary and editorial.
Natural moments always come first, guided by an awareness of composition, light, and atmosphere. I’ll look for the best light available — and when it isn’t there, I know how to shape it quietly, without drawing attention.
The aim is never trend-led imagery.
It’s photographs that still feel right years from now.
Working Together
Before the wedding, I’m always available — for conversations, questions, or advice.
On the day, I’m calm, focused, and fully present.
Afterwards, I edit carefully and consistently, keeping everything true to the moment.
If you’re looking for photography that feels natural, thoughtful, and honest — I’d love to hear about your plans.
Life beyond the Camera
When I’m not working, I’m usually with my wife and daughter — the centre of my world.
I love travel, history, old buildings, hiking, good food, and being outdoors. Those things shape how I see — they slow me down, sharpen my attention, and remind me why moments matter.
That way of seeing naturally carries into my work.
